Retail: Cross Channel Consumer Experience
Business Problem: A global retailer needed to re-platform their e-commerce systems and integrate order, inventory, and assortment planning for their retail, web, and telesales channels while delivering a world class consumer experience that lived up to their premium brand.
Our Role: We provided interim program leadership to help align Marketing, Corporate IT, and their marketing web technology teams. We led Executive status meetings, formed business teams, and reset the scope, budget, and timeline expectations that were agreed to by the Executive team. Once the client identified a new business owner, we seamlessly transitioned our work products and left them with a higher level of business engagement and direction for this important project.
Software: M&A Integration
Business Problem: A major software company was pursuing a growth through acquisition strategy with multiple deals in the pipeline, but had experienced significant problems with the effective operations integration of a recent large acquisition.
Our Role: Led the operations integration for the next large acquisitions to directly address the integration issues and established an improved integration methodology. These included global acquisitions with operations in EMEA, North America and Asia Pacific. Participated in due diligence, prepared integration plans, and led the integration teams through all integration phases. Updated the integration playbook to incorporate improvements and developed specific procedures for improved customer integration and data migration.
Travel : Interim Executive
Business Problem: A top US travel destination association was revising their 3 year strategy and wanted to elevate IT as a strategic component of their plan. The current infrastructure was antiquated and limited their ability to take advantage of new technologies.
Our Role: We served as an Interim VP of IT and provided an assessment of their current capabilities, recommended foundational, growth-oriented, and transformational opportunities. We led them through the selection of an IAAS provider, upgraded their bandwidth from T1 to Fiber, outsourced their helpdesk support, and assisted in the selection of VP of IT that was able to lead operations and IT strategy. Once the VP was onboard, we transitioned seamlessly and helped them move forward with their strategic objectives.
BioTech : Online Ordering and Consumer Experience
Business Problem: A top biotech company’s physician customers were required to phone or fax the call center to update their online account profiles, payment information, and shipping preferences. The call center was taking an excessive number of calls to perform functions that the physicians could do themselves. To make matters worse, physicians had to call during west coast business hours to request simple updates to their profiles. The business and the physicians were both dissatisfied with their current system.
Our Role: We served as a Program Leader to redesign our client’s website. We established business requirements, priorities, and drove activities with the marketing team, marketing agency, IT, testing, and the call center. We effectively represented the business’ best interests and translated the business needs to other stakeholders so that everyone clearly understood the decisions, tradeoffs, and implications. The project dramatically improved the customer experience for physicians and solidified the company's industry leadership position.
Industrial Distribution: Business Impact Assessment and Disaster Recovery Planning
Business Problem: A distributor of industrial equipment had identified significant business risks associated with the concentration of physical and IT operations at a single location and was being asked by key business partners to develop a formal disaster recover plan.
Our Role: Led a Business Impact Assessment and worked closely with client Executives, IT, and an infrastructure partner to develop practical recommendations for a disaster recovery solution. This included a backup and recovery plan based on migrating key business systems to cloud based solutions that significantly reduced business continuity risks while also streamlining and reducing costs for existing IT operations.
Higher Education: Data Storage Assessment and Strategy
Business Problem: A California State University had experienced some significant IT outages at critical times during the school year and was also facing growing demands for data storage based on an expansion of on-line learning, related video streaming, and digital document retention.
Our Role: Led an assessment to develop a strategy and implementation roadmap for data storage. We made recommendations for the optimization of existing data center based capacity for higher performance, and development of cloud based capabilities to support new requirements and future demand.
